YOU ARE HERE Online Fracking Infrastructure Map

Get the big picture on fracking in New York State by visiting our online interactive map of pipelines, compressor stations, storage facilities and other fracking infrastructure. There are at least 137 existing or proposed shale gas YAH STP copy 2projects in this state. You Are Here links users with frontline community advocates. Help organize presentations of the map with your local community group, city council and state representatives. Make sure your rep knows that taking a stance against fracking means taking a stance against the infrastructure and not just the drilling. Despite the statewide ban, infrastructure continues to threaten New Yorkers with pollution, eminent domain, and other risks.

Offshore Wind

ny_mapLIn November 2015, Sane Energy Project, along with a large coalition of allies and friends in New York and New Jersey, shut down a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) port proposal that stood in the way of a wind farm. Now we advocate for that wind farm to be built. The waters off the Rockaways alone could generate up to 700 megawatts of electricity – enough to power 245,000 homes. And this is the moment to make it happen. Sane Energy Project is encouraging both New York City and New York State to make solid commitments to purchase offshore wind power.

Sane Energy Solutions
is a series of forums we produce on renewable energy and sustainable options for the transitioning world. We’ve looked into some of the newer or more complex aspects that many remain skeptical about, but we see as developing technologies that must be adopted if we are to transition to a sustainable energy system.

Past forums have included discussions of biodiesel, solar thermal, Passive House building standards, urban wind, solar, and electric vehicles.
