Information About REV

The REV proceeding was initiated by New York’s Public Service Commission (PSC) in April, 2014. It will be ongoing through 2016. The Public Service Commission regulates and oversees utilities in New York State, and is the agency charged with overseeing and implementing the REV process.

REV consists of separate “tracks,” many of which manage development and funding for different aspects of the utility system. For instance, one track allocates responsibility for coordinating distribution between distributed energy resources (DERs) – think small-scale generators like small solar farms – and customers. Another allocates funding support for renewable energy via the Clean Energy Fund and the New York Green Bank. A separate track deals exclusively with the development of large-scale renewable generation.
