We celebrate our success in the 2023 legislative session, which takes place in Albany every year from January - June.

• Passed 2023: NY Build Public Renewables Act! The first step in creating democratic (not out-of-touch corporations) control of our own utilities. Read more on our coalition campaign website. Public Power NY

• Passed 2023: All Electric Buildings Act: Mandates NEW construction to be built without fossil fuels. Read more on our coalition website, Renewable Heat Now.

• Pending - in 2024, we will pass the very popular NY HEAT Act

  • New Yorkers are forced by gas utilities to subsidize the expansion of the deadly fracked gas delivery system. This system is increasingly expensive, antiquated, and misaligned with our Climate Act. The NY HEAT Act would implement key recommendations from the Climate Action Plan to eliminate billions in subsidies for new gas hookups, enable neighborhood scale building decarbonization, and ensure energy affordability for low- and moderate-income families.
